10 months in the USA

Ich kann kaum glauben, dass  ich  erst seit zehn Monaten in den USA lebe, allerdings  ist  es  noch  schwerer mir vorzustellen in zwei Monaten wieder nach Hause zu fahren.
Ich liebe mein Leben hier, auch wenn es manchmal  sehr anstrengend ist, nicht zuletzt  weil ich gute Freunde  gefunden  habe und mich in meiner  Gastfamilie zuhause  fühle.
Natürlich  habe ich  auch  einiges unternommen,  meine Freunde  und  ich sind jedes Wochenende  unterwegs, allerdings  machen wir selten etwas spektakuläres, von daher habe ich recht wenige  Blogeinträge geschrieben.
Beispielsweise gehen wir oft ins Kino oder besuchen  eine lokale Bar, aber seit es wärmer wird, gehen wir  auch hin und wieder an den Strand, wo wir den Freund einer Freundin beim Fallschirmspringen beobachten  konnten. Zudem waren wir auf dem Jubiläumsfestival von Chesapeake  und haben den Geburtstag  einer Freundin bei mir im Garten gefeiert.
Ich freue mich schon auf den Sommer, wenn ich mehr mit den Kindern unternehmen  werde, aber  hoffentlich trotzdem  noch  etwas Zeit  für mich finde.

I can hardly believe that it's  been ten months since I came to the USA, but it's  even harder to imagine  to leave in two months.
I love my life here, not just because I found great friends from all over the world,  but also because I feel like home in my hostfamily.
Of course my friends and I have been doing a lot of things, we are out every weekend,  but  most of the times it's  nothing  spectacular,  so I barely write blog entries. For example  we go to the cinema a lot or hang out in a local pub, but we're  also hoing to the beach  more often since the weather is warming up. There we were able to watch a friend's boyfriend jump out of the plane with a parachute and land right in front of us. We've  also been at the Chesapeake  jubilee and  celebrated a friend's  birthday  in my backyard.
I am looking forward to the summer and doing more stuff with the kids, but I also hope that I'll  still be able  to  find time  for myself.

New Orleans

Von Chicago  aus bin ich einen Tag mit  dem  Bus nach New Orleans  gefahren,  wo ich bei Freunden  von meinem Gastvater bleiben  konnte.
Leider hatte ich nur einen Tag Zeit und es hat die ganze  Zeit  über  geregnet,  aber  es war dennoch  sehr schön.
Ich habe die Küche  von New Orleans probiert, das French Quarter und die St. Louis Cathedral besucht  und mit meinen Gastgebern  Billard gespielt.

After visiting  Chicago  I rode the bus down to New Orleans for one day, where I stayed with friends of my hostdad.
Sadly I only had one day there and it was raining  the whole time, but it was still very nice.
I tried the New Orleans  cuisine, visited the French  Quarter and the St. Louis Cathedral and played pool woth my hosts.

Chicago

Ich habe fünf  Tage  in Chicago  verbracht,  drei davon waren allerdings ein weiterer Wochenendkurs, doch an den Anderen habe ich mir die Stadt angeschaut.
Zudem habe ich  einige  nette  Leute  im Hostel getroffen und mit ihnen den Großteil  meiner Freizeit  verbracht.
Alles in allem hat mir Chicago  sehr gzt gefallen.

I have spent five days in  Chicago, three of them were another weekend class, but on the others I did some sightseeing.
Also I met a few nice people in the hostel and spent a lot of time with them.
All in all I really  liked Chicago.

Niagara Falls

Nach meinem  Wochenendkurs  habe ich zwei Tage  an den Niagarafällen in New York  verbracht.
Es ist wunderschön  dort, vor allem auf dem Observationsdeck.

After my weekend class  I've  spent  two days at the Niagara Falls in New York.
It's  amazingly  beautiful there, especially  on the observation deck.

Weekend Class in Long Island

Dieses Wochenende  habe ich in der Long Island University mit einem Wochenendkurs zu kultureller Dynamik verbracht.
Leider war der Kurs nicht besonders  interessant, da wir hauptsächlich Filme geschaut haben und allgemeine Informationen  über Immigration  wiederholt haben.
Zum Glück habe  ich  einige nette Au Pairs getroffen  und wir hatten trotzdem  Spaß.

This weekend I spent at the Long Island University with a weekend  class about cultural dynamics.
Sadly this course wasn't  very interesting, because we mainly watched movies  and talked about basic facts about immigration.
But at least I met a couple of nice au pairs.

New York, New York

Am Mittwoch habe ich meinen zweiwöchigen Urlaub gestartet und die Nacht im Bus nach New York  City  verbracht.
Am Morgen musste ich mit dann mit den öffentlichen  Verkehrsmitteln  auseinandersetzen (Chaos pur),  um zum Hostel zu gelangen  und meine Tasche dort abzuladen.
Danach bin ich zum Times Square herunter  gefahren, zum Empire State Building gelaufen, dann zur Brooklyn  Bridge  gefahren und danach  zum World Trade Center gelaufen.
Als ich mir die Freiheitsstatue anschauen  wollte, habe ich ein deutsches Ehepaar getroffen und mit ihnen eine Bootstour
gemacht, wodurch ich  die Statue auch aus der Nähe sehen konnte.
Am nächsten Morgen  ging es weiter  zum Wochenendkurs in Long Island.

On Wednesday  I started my 2-week vacation and soent the whole night  in a bus to New York City.
In the morning I had to figure out the public transportation  (Chaos) to et to the hostel to check in and leave my bag.
After that I drove down to Times  Square amd walked to the Empire  State Building, after that I drove to the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center.
When I wanted to see the Statue of Liberty I met a german couple and we did a noatcruise together, so I was able to get close to the Statue.
On the next morning I checked out and drove to my weekend  class in Long Island.
